Once done, there are 2 devices in our Rack. Create a Dr OctoRex (create->Dr OctoRex from the Edit menu). Create an NN-XT (create->NN-XT advanced Sampler from the Edit Menu) If you are new to the process of using Rex files in the NN-XT I would recommend the following work flow to get things started: If we get the hang of it, we can decide for ourselves to use it or to ditch it totally. In this article I would like to make the gap smaller from OctoRex users to NN-XT users. The NN-XT works different and it may feel like an "alien" from time to time. If you are not using the NN-XT for Rex loops, then I won't blame you. When it comes to total freedom, then the NN-XT will definitly win this fight with a giant leap. When it comes to workflow, the NN-XT probably "sucks" regarding to looping patterns. In some cases a different approach needs to be used. While looking at this list one might become aware that some times loading rex files in a OctoRex works like a charm (in most cases). only one pattern can be used per NN-XT while dr OctroRex can load 8 loops No loop to Track (thus editing notes can become a time consuming process) but thats all related to workflow)ĭownside using Rex files in the NN-XT compared to Dr OctoRex: modulate envelope works different (better from my perspective. There are some benefits and downsides with using Rex files inside the NN-XT.

For most people who have been following my stuff, you will know that loading up Rex files in the NN-XT isn't something new. I would like to make a nice transition from the OctoRex to NN-XT by digging in to a topic called "Importing Rex files in the NN-XT".
